The verse makes reference to a legend related to King Aja. Once a sadhu came to him and asked for some alms. The king was inspecting his horses in the stable. He did not pay any attention to the sadhu. When the sadhu repeated his request, the king out of his arrogance and rage gave some manure to him. The sadhu took the manure and preserved it. After a while, it increased as other people piled manure over it.

After some time, circumstances changed for the worse and the king had to leave his kingdom and live in the jungle. Coincidently, he went to the same sadhu and asked for some food. The sadhu offered him the manure, from the heap, he had received as alms. The king realized his blunder and regretted his mistake and arrogant behavior.

The lesson from the story is that we reap what we sow. If we carry out a wrong action, we have to face the consequences also.

We are asked to recite the Naam of the Divine. Is it enough to invoke the Naam of the Divine, to chant a mantra or say a prayer to get closer to Him? This recitation is not just in name. One needs to go beyond the words, to focus the mind on the role of the Divine in our life.

While reciting the Naam of the Divine, keep in the forefront the thought that He is the Creator, the One who gives and takes away; the One who leads us astray and yet imparts understanding.
